General notice:
	You might want to download a deb / rpm package or exe installer for win32 on sourceforge
	instead of installing the application from source. If this does not apply to you for some
	reason, follow the instructions below.

Linux / Unix:
	Dependencies:
	- python, pygtk, pycairo, gnome-python2-gtkspell, python-enchant, python-imaging, pypoppler
	- tesseract (along with it's dictionaries)
	- python-imaging-sane (optional)

	Installation:
	- Direct installation: make install as root
	- Create packages (RECOMMENDED): make rpm / make deb

	Run without installation:
	- Simply run bin/gimagereader

Win32:
	Dependencies:
	* General:
	  - tesseract + desired dictionaries (http://code.google.com/p/tesseract-ocr/downloads/list)
	* For building installer:
	  - py2exe (http://sourceforge.net/projects/py2exe/files/)
	  - NSIS (http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Download)
	  - gimagereader-win32-support-<ver>.zip (http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimagereader/files/)
	  - All items in next point
	* For running without installation:
	  - GTK + svg and gnome icon theme (a sufficient subset of GTK for win32 is provided in
	    gimagereader-win32-support-<ver>.zip - see notices below)
	  - Python (http://www.python.org/download/)
	  - pycairo, pygobject, pygtk (http://www.pygtk.org/downloads.html)
	  - PIL (http://www.pythonware.com/library/index.htm)
	  - twain (optional - http://pypi.python.org/pypi/twain/)
	  - pypoppler (good luck compiling)

	Building installer:
	- Download gimagereader-win32-support-<version>.zip and extract it to the source folder (the
	  resulting structure should be	gimagereader-<ver>\win32\{gtklib, gimagereader.ico, ...})
	- Make sure the NSIS root folder (containing makensis.exe) is in the PATH environment variable
	- Run python setup.py py2exe, then use the installer in dist\gimagereader_<version>_win32.exe

	Run without installation:
	- If you don't have GTK installed, download gimagereader-win32-support-<ver>.zip, extract it
	  somewhere and add <...>\win32\gtklib\bin to the PATH environment variable
	- Then simply run python bin\gimagereader (or drive:\path\to\python if python is not in PATH)

	Trubleshooting:
	- Nothing happens: Have a look at C:\Program Files\gimagereader\gimagereader.exe.log (or similar
	  if you installed somewhere else), it might contain some valuable information.
	- Some icons are missing: if you used your own GTK installation, check you have the gnome icon theme
	  installed and configured in the etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc file.
